Succulent Texture Fusing Tile

The Succulent Texture Fusing Tile (GX21) from Creative Paradise is an 8.75 inch square ceramic tile that transfers a succulent leaf pattern to the surface of glass during a kiln firing. Place a glass sheet or fused blank face down on the prepared tile, fire to the texturing temperature, and the softened glass picks up the raised succulent design. Frit may also be fused directly on the tile surface to create a patterned piece with the succulent motif.

What does the Succulent Texture Fusing Tile do?
It presses a succulent leaf pattern into the surface of glass during firing. Place glass face down on the prepared tile and fire to the texturing temperature so the softened glass picks up the raised design.

Can I use frit directly on the tile?
Yes. Frit placed on the tile surface can be fused to create a patterned piece with the succulent design showing through. Follow the separator prep instructions and use a schedule matched to your glass.

What COE glass can I use?

Coat the tile surface with a kiln wash or boron nitride mold primer and let it dry completely before placing glass. Re-coat between firings as needed.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a texturing schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime the tile surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, and let it dry completely before placing glass.
• For texture transfer onto a pre-fused blank, place the glass face down on the prepared tile and fire with a texturing schedule suited to your glass, keeping the peak below a full fuse. To simultaneously texture and fuse unfused layers, stack them on the tile and use the suggested Full Fuse schedule below.
• Frit may also be fused directly on the tile surface to create a patterned piece with the succulent design.
• The tile is COE agnostic. Adjust the anneal soak temperature to match your glass: 950 F for COE96, 900 F for COE90.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the glass. Re-coat the tile with primer or kiln wash between firings as needed.

Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

Full Fuse (COE96): for two full layers of COE96 glass.

*Segment 4 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
