Yellow Sea Creature Decal Sheet

This sheet carries seven sea-creature designs drawn in the manner of 19th-century natural-history illustration. Each decal depicts a radiolarian, the microscopic marine organism prized for its intricate silica skeleton, rendered in warm golden yellow with pale gray outlines, orange-red centers, and fine cross-hatching. The seven specimens vary in form: a large many-pointed starburst with long tapering spines anchors the sheet, joined by a flat lattice disc with a bold four-lobed center, rounder globular types ringed with fine radiating needles, and slender elongated angular specimens. Together they read as a cohesive naturalist plate.

These are water-slide fusible glass decals applied to pre-fired glass and fired in place. Cut a decal from the sheet, soak it briefly in clean water until it releases from its backing, then slide it onto a clean, grease-free pre-fired glass surface. Smooth away water and air with a soft squeegee or fingertip, let the piece dry fully, and fire per the schedule below. Because the decal bonds to an already-fused surface rather than fusing as a glass layer, no COE matching is needed and it works with glass of any COE.

Which glass color shows these decals best?
These decals fire somewhat transparent, so they show best on white or very light glass, where the golden yellow tones and fine linework register clearly. On medium or dark glass the design loses contrast, so light backgrounds are recommended.

How do I apply a water-slide decal from this sheet?
Cut the decal away from the sheet and soak it in clean, room-temperature water for 30 to 60 seconds until it slides freely from its backing paper. Slide it into position on clean, dry, pre-fired glass, then smooth water and air outward from the center with a soft squeegee or fingertip. Let the piece dry completely before firing.

Do these decals work with the COE glass I already have?
Yes. Because the decal fires onto the surface of pre-fired glass rather than fusing as a compatible glass layer, no COE matching is needed. Clean, fully pre-fired glass of any COE accepts these decals.

How many decals are on one sheet?
Each sheet includes seven sea-creature decals. The designs differ in size and shape, so you can cut them apart and place each one exactly where you want it.

Working Notes

Apply these decals to a clean, grease-free, pre-fired glass surface. White or very light base glass shows the golden yellow designs with the most clarity. Let the decal dry completely before placing the piece in the kiln. Test a small sample before firing a finished work, and anneal for the thickness of your glass.
