• Prime the cavity before every firing with a boron nitride mold primer. Colour de Verre calls for ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer. Let the primer dry completely before adding glass so the casting releases cleanly.
• Fill to about 150 grams for a solid objet d'art or paperweight, or to about 70 grams for a piece intended to embellish other artwork.
• For opalescent or richly colored transparent frits, use fine mesh frit diluted with an equal amount of clear to produce castings with more depth and richness.

Colour de Verre Suggested Firing Schedule

This is a suggested starting schedule based on Colour de Verre general guidance, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run first.

• Heat no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour.
• Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C).
• Add a controlled cool with an anneal soak suited to your glass: about 900 F for COE90, or about 950 F for COE96.
