This sheet carries a large assortment of fish illustrations rendered in a naturalistic, scientific-illustration style. The designs span a wide variety of reef and tropical species, from compact, disc-shaped forms to longer, more streamlined silhouettes. Colors range across warm oranges, butter yellows, and brick reds alongside cool blues, aqua greens, and silvery grays. Individual fish feature fine scale textures, bold stripes, spotted markings, and soft gradient shading that gives each illustration a hand-painted depth. The fish are arranged loosely across the sheet with enough white space around each one to cut them apart and use them individually.
These are full-color water-slide decals designed to be applied and fired on top of pre-fired glass. Cut out the fish you want, soak it briefly in clean water until it releases from its paper backing, slide it onto a clean, grease-free pre-fired glass surface, smooth out any water or air pockets with a soft squeegee or fingertip, and let it dry fully before firing. Because the decals fire onto the glass surface rather than into the glass body, they are compatible with any COE glass.
How many fish are on the sheet? The sheet holds a large assortment of individual fish illustrations, each printed as its own decal, so you can cut them apart and use one at a time or combine several on a single piece.
Do I need a specific COE glass to use these? No. These decals fire onto the glass surface and do not fuse into the glass body, so COE compatibility is not a factor. They work on any fusing glass.
Will the colors look different on clear glass versus opaque glass? Yes. Full-color decals are somewhat transparent when fired on clear glass, meaning the base color shows through and affects the final appearance. For the most saturated, true-to-print result, fire the decals over white or opaque glass.
Can I use just one or two fish and save the rest of the sheet for later? Yes. Cut around whichever fish you want before soaking, then store the remainder flat and dry, out of direct sunlight, until you are ready to use it.
Specifications
SKU: 163341 Sheet size: 4 x 5.25 inches Sold as a printed decal sheet A large assortment of full-color fish illustrations Firing range: 1275 to 1380 degrees Fires onto pre-fired glass of any COE Working Notes
Apply decals only to clean, pre-fired glass that is free of oils, fingerprints, and dust. After positioning and smoothing each decal flat, allow the piece to dry fully, at least several hours or overnight, before placing it in the kiln. Firing over opaque or colored glass produces the richest color results. On clear glass, expect decal colors to read as somewhat transparent.
Suggested Firing Schedule (a starting point only, not a guarantee of results; every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first and anneal for the thickness of your glass): Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees. Ramp 50 degrees per hour to 185 degrees, hold 20 minutes. Ramp 150 degrees per hour to 300 degrees, hold 15 minutes. Ramp 250 degrees per hour to 500 degrees, hold 15 minutes. Ramp 600 degrees per hour to 1000 degrees, hold 10 minutes. Then ramp to a final 1275 to 1380 degrees, held about 10 minutes. These full-color prints read best on white or light glass and lose strength on medium to dark glass. Anneal for the thickness of your glass.
