The Dogwood Large and Medium Mold from Colour de Verre casts two dogwood blossoms in a single firing: a large blossom at 2-3/4 inches and a medium blossom at 2-1/4 inches. Each cavity is shaped to capture the natural form of a dogwood flower, making it a practical mold for glass artists working with botanical or floral themes.
Like all ceramic casting molds, this one is COE agnostic. Load the cavities with frit and fire to cast each blossom shape. Colour de Verre lists about 50 grams of frit for the large cavity and 38 grams for the medium. The finished blossoms work as decorative accents fused onto plates, platters, or panels, as drawer pulls or cabinet knobs, or as components in jewelry designs. The mold is reusable across many firings when primed and cared for properly.
What does the Dogwood Large and Medium Mold make? It casts two dogwood blossoms per firing: a large blossom at 2-3/4 inches and a medium blossom at 2-1/4 inches. Both are well suited as decorative fused accents on plates or panels, functional hardware pulls, or floral jewelry components.
What COE glass can I use in this mold? Any COE. Ceramic casting molds are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.
How much glass do I need per cavity? Colour de Verre lists about 50 grams for the large blossom cavity and 38 grams for the medium. Weigh your frit and test a first run when the result matters.
How do I prep the mold before casting? Colour de Verre requires priming the cavities before every firing with a boron nitride primer. Let the primer dry completely before adding frit so the glass does not stick.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold.
Prime both cavities before every firing. Colour de Verre specifically recommends ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer . Let the primer dry completely before adding frit.
Fill the large cavity with about 50 grams of frit and the medium cavity with about 38 grams. Frit, small billets, or compatible glass pieces all work in the cavities.
The mold is COE agnostic. Use a firing schedule matched to your glass and kiln, adjusting the anneal soak for your COE.
A coordinating small dogwood blossom is available in the Colour de Verre Small Mixed Flowers #2 mold, and pairing this mold with the Colour de Verre Leaves Mold allows for fuller botanical arrangements.
Re-prime the mold before each subsequent firing. Let the kiln cool fully before removing the cast pieces.
Suggested Firing Schedule
This is a suggested starting guideline, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run first.
Heat no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour to avoid thermal shock to the mold.
Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C).
After the fuse soak, cool in a controlled way and hold an anneal soak suited to your glass: about 950 F for COE96 or about 900 F for COE90.
Let the kiln reach room temperature before removing the cast pieces.
