- Clear capping, uncapped firing, and coating side orientation can each affect the final look, coating side up tends toward a glossier finish, and coating side down tends toward a more matte finish, so test first when the result matters.

What is etched dichroic glass?

Modern dichroic glass was advanced through NASA era vacuum deposition work, where ultra thin metal coatings were applied to transparent surfaces for optical protection.
