Incense Bottle Slumping Mold

The Incense Bottle Slumping Mold from Creative Paradise (model GM163) is a ceramic form designed to slump a pre-made glass blank or standard glass bottle into an incense bottle contour. Place a prepared piece on the mold surface, fire through a slump schedule, and gravity draws the glass down into the shape over the course of the firing. The mold measures 14.5 inches long by 5.5 inches wide and stands 2.5 inches tall, giving it enough length to accept a full-size bottle or a large glass blank.

Like all ceramic slumping molds, this form is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings when prepped with a mold release before each use. It works with COE96, COE90, and standard glass bottles, so the same mold handles a range of glass types.

What glass works with this mold?
COE96, COE90, and standard glass bottles all work. Ceramic slumping forms are COE agnostic. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using, and adjust the anneal soak temperature for COE90 versus COE96.

How do I prep the mold before slumping?
Coat the mold surface with a boron nitride primer or kiln wash and let it dry completely before placing your glass. Re-coat as needed between firings so the glass releases cleanly from the form.

Can I use a standard glass bottle with this mold?
Yes. The suggested firing schedule is designed for standard glass bottles as well as COE96 glass, with an anneal soak at 950 F. If you are using COE90, adjust the anneal soak to 900 F instead.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a slumping schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime the mold surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, and let it dry completely before placing your glass.
• Place a pre-fused blank, a cut glass sheet, or a standard glass bottle on the prepared mold surface. The 14.5 inch mold length is sized to fit a full-size bottle.
• The mold is COE agnostic. Use a slump schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the slumped piece. Re-coat the mold surface with primer as needed between firings. The Slide Hi Temp brand separator is not recommended with these molds.

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

Slump Schedule (COE96):

*Segment 4 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96 glass and standard glass bottles. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
