Light Orange Semi-Opalescent dots are a hot, saturated orange, the orange of a ripe persimmon, and a slight translucency shows at the rims and on the thinner slices where the color warms to a glowing tangerine. The faces are glossy and even.
Rated COE96 and sliced from 6 mm cane at about 2 to 3 mm thick, these dots fuse with COE96 glass and no other. The translucency makes this orange glow where an opaque would sit flat. Use it for koi on a white pond, flames along the rim of a black plate, poppies on cream, or a row of citrus slices on a pale blue base. Tack fused on white the domed tops light up like small lanterns; full fused the glow softens into flat, warm discs.
What does semi-opalescent mean for this orange? On a dark base it behaves like an opaque: a bold, solid orange. On white or clear some light passes through and the color brightens and glows, especially on a tack fuse where the dome catches light. Use it wherever an accent needs heat: citrus, flames, koi and poppies.
