The North Star Casting Mold from Colour de Verre casts one star-shaped piece per firing, with the finished piece measuring 7.25 inches (18 cm) tall. The shape is well suited to seasonal ornaments, suncatchers, window hangings, and keepsake pieces that can be displayed year after year.
The mold measures 9.5 inches by 6.5 inches by 1.25 inches (24 x 17 x 3 cm). Colour de Verre recommends a fill of 30 to 35 grams of glass per casting. Like all ceramic casting molds, it is COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Prime the mold before every use and match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a casting schedule suited to your glass and kiln.
Prime the mold before every firing with ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer . Let the primer dry completely before adding glass. Colour de Verre requires priming before every use.
Fill the cavity with frit, small billets, or stacked sheet scrap to reach 30 to 35 grams. Weigh your glass for consistent results.
The mold is COE agnostic. Use a firing schedule matched to your glass type.
Let the kiln cool fully before removing the cast piece. Re-prime the mold before the next firing.
Colour de Verre Suggested Firing Guidance
This is a suggested starting point, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold and test a small run first before committing to a full batch.
Heat at no faster than about 350 F (195 C) per hour to avoid thermal shock to the mold and glass.
Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C) for a full fuse result.
Add a controlled cool with an anneal soak appropriate for your COE glass.
