Oceanside Steel (style OGTN5384F) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible glass sold as noodles, flat ribbon strands in a deep transparent steel gray.
Appearance
Flat noodle strands in a dark steel, a deep blue-gray that reads nearly charcoal when massed and shows its cool blue cast when a single strand meets the light. As a transparent it holds a smoky depth rather than an opaque black, so light finds the thinner edges, and the flat ribbon lays a bold, wide line.
Working notes
Steel noodles give strong dark linework, borders, and shadow lines without going fully black. As a deep transparent the color reads darkest over a dark base and shows more blue-gray over light. A full fuse melts the ribbons flush, while a tack fuse keeps them raised for dimension.
Reactions
This is a copper-bearing color, rated medium on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a sulfur-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Using the noodles
Noodles are thin, flat ribbon strands for stripes, borders, linework, and fine detail. Lay them on a base, cut them to length, or bend them warm for curves.
Fusing and compatibility
Fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
