Oceanside Paynes Gray Opalescent Stringers (style OGTS078F) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible stringers, fine threads of muted slate gray.
Appearance
Slim round stringer threads in a cool Paynes gray, a soft blue-leaning slate. The threads carry a translucent, opalescent body, thin, even, and glossy, with some passing lighter and darker along their length.
Working notes
This muted gray gives a quiet, neutral line that works for outlines, shading, and structure without pulling attention from brighter colors.
Reactions
This is a copper-bearing color, rated low on the System 96 reactive scale. Fused against a sulfur-bearing glass it can develop a reaction line or a shift in color where the two meet, an effect fusers use on purpose for shading and depth. Next to non-reactive colors it stays true. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors it reacts with.
Using the stringers
Stringers are thin threads of glass used to draw lines, outlines, and fine detail on a base sheet before firing. Snap them to length, lay them in place, and fuse so the lines settle into the surface.
Fusing and compatibility
Tested compatible with other System 96 glass, so it fuses cleanly with any 96 COE product in the System 96 family. When you combine it with glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
