Radiant Slumping Mold

The Radiant Slumping Mold from Creative Paradise drapes a pre-made glass sheet or fused blank into an 8.5 inch circular radiant form. The mold measures 8.5 inches in diameter and stands 2 inches tall, producing a gently dimensional slumped piece suited to decorative bowls, platters, and round display pieces.

Like all ceramic slumping molds, this one is COE agnostic. Place a pre-cut or pre-fused glass blank on the prepared mold surface and fire to slumping temperature. Gravity draws the softened glass down to conform to the radiant shape. No frit filling is required. The mold is reusable across many firings when prepped and cared for properly.

What does the Radiant Slumping Mold make?
It slumps a glass sheet or pre-fused blank into a round radiant form measuring 8.5 inches in diameter. The finished piece takes on a shallow bowl profile suited to decorative platters, bowls, and wall-hung display pieces.

What size glass blank do I need?
Cut or fuse a blank sized to the 8.5 inch diameter of the mold. Trim to fit flush with the rim, or allow a small overhang if you want the edges to drape. Test a first run to confirm the fit in your kiln setup.

What COE glass can I use with this mold?
Any COE. Ceramic slumping molds are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match the firing schedule to the glass you are using.

How do I prep the mold before slumping?
Coat the mold surface with a kiln shelf primer such as a boron nitride spray (for example ZYP) or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, and let it dry completely before placing your glass blank so the glass does not stick.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a slumping schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime the mold surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash, and let it dry completely before placing your glass so it does not stick.
• Use a pre-cut or pre-fused glass blank sized to the 8.5 inch diameter. A full fuse blank set on the prepared mold will slump down into the radiant form during firing.
• The mold is COE agnostic. Use a slumping schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the slumped piece. Re coat the mold with primer as needed between firings.
• The Slide Hi Temp brand separator is not recommended with these molds.

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

Slump (COE96):

*Segment 3 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.
