Succulent Slumping Mold

The Succulent Slumping Mold from Creative Paradise forms a pre-cut or pre-fused glass blank into a round dish with a raised succulent leaf texture. The mold is 4.75 inches in diameter. A glass blank is set on the mold and fired, and as the temperature rises the glass softens and conforms to the sculpted surface by gravity, taking on the botanical detail and dish shape.

Like all Creative Paradise ceramic molds, this one is COE agnostic and works with COE96, COE90, or other compatible fusible glass. Match the firing schedule to the glass you are using. The mold is reusable across many firings when prepped with a separator and handled with care.

How does slumping work with this mold?
A pre-cut or pre-fused glass blank is placed on the mold and fired. As the kiln heats, the glass softens and settles into the form by gravity, picking up the succulent leaf contours. This is a slump or drape technique, not a frit-fill casting.

What COE glass can I use?
Any COE. Ceramic slumping molds are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other compatible fusible glass. Adjust the anneal soak temperature in the firing schedule to match the glass you are using.

How do I prepare the mold before slumping?
Coat the mold surface with a boron nitride spray or kiln wash and let it dry completely before placing your glass. This prevents the glass from bonding to the mold surface. Re-coat as needed between firings.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a slumping schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime the mold surface with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, and let it dry completely before placing glass so the glass does not stick.
• Cut or prepare a glass blank sized to cover the 4.75 inch mold. Center it on the form before firing.
• The mold is COE agnostic. Use a slumping schedule matched to your glass, adjusting the final anneal soak temperature for your COE.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the slumped piece. Re-coat the mold with primer as needed between firings.
• The Slide Hi Temp brand separator is not recommended with these molds.

Creative Paradise Suggested Firing Schedule

This is a suggested COE96 starting schedule, not a guarantee. Every kiln fires differently. Test a small run and adjust the schedule for your glass and kiln.

Slump (COE96):

*Segment 3 is the anneal soak at 950 F for COE96. If using COE90, adjust this temperature to 900 F.

One-and-Done (COE96): a single firing that fuses raw glass pieces and slumps them into the mold in one pass.
