The Trillium (Large and Medium) mold from Colour de Verre casts two trillium flower sizes in a single firing. The large cavity produces a bloom at 3-3/4 inches, filled with about 70 grams of frit. The medium cavity produces a bloom at 2-3/4 inches, filled with about 50 grams of frit. Both shapes cast in one pass, giving you a coordinated set from a single firing.
The finished trilliums work as accents on platters and plates, and the shapes also translate to jewelry pieces. During the holiday season, the same mold is commonly fired to produce poinsettia shapes. For a smaller trillium blossom, the Colour de Verre Small Mixed Flowers #2 mold includes one in its cavity set. Like all ceramic casting molds, this one is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings with proper prep and care.
What does the Trillium (Large and Medium) mold make? It casts two trillium flower shapes in one firing: a large bloom at 3-3/4 inches and a medium bloom at 2-3/4 inches. The finished pieces work as plate and platter accents or jewelry components, and also fire as poinsettias during the holidays.
How much frit do I need per cavity? Colour de Verre lists about 70 grams for the large cavity and about 50 grams for the medium cavity. Weigh your frit and test a first run when the result matters.
What COE glass works with this mold? Any COE. Ceramic casting molds are COE agnostic, so the same mold works with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.
How do I prep the mold before each firing? Colour de Verre molds must be primed before every use. Apply a mold primer such as ZYP BN Lubricoat or Hotline Primo Primer and let it dry fully before adding frit. Do not skip this step or the glass may stick.

Working Notes
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow the Colour de Verre project sheet for this mold.
Prime the mold before every use. Colour de Verre recommends ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer or Hotline Primo Primer . Apply evenly and let the primer dry completely before adding frit.
Fill the large cavity with about 70 grams of frit and the medium cavity with about 50 grams.
The mold is COE agnostic. Use a casting schedule suited to your glass type, whether COE96, COE90, or another fusible glass.
Let the kiln cool fully before removing the cast pieces. Re-prime the mold before the next firing.
Suggested Firing Schedule (Colour de Verre General Guidance)

Fire to no more than about 1450 F (785 C).
Hold a controlled anneal soak at the end: about 950 F for COE96 or about 900 F for COE90.
Allow a controlled cool before opening the kiln.
