Weave Bars Slumping Mold, Set of Four

The Weave Bars Slumping Mold from Creative Paradise is a set of four ceramic bar-shaped slumping forms, each measuring 6 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. The four bars are designed to work together to build a woven bar pattern in glass: pre-cut glass sheets or fused blanks are draped over or slumped onto the bar forms, and the resulting shaped pieces are arranged and tack fired into a cohesive woven glass composition that can then be slumped further, for example over a sushi slumper mold.

The four bar forms each measure 6 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. Like all Creative Paradise ceramic molds, the set is COE agnostic and reusable across many firings when prepped and maintained properly.

What does the Weave Bars mold set make?
It shapes glass into four individual bar forms, each 6 inches long by 1.5 inches wide, that can be combined into a woven glass pattern when arranged and tack fired together.

How do I achieve the woven look?
Slump glass over each of the four bar forms to shape the individual pieces. Arrange the slumped bars in an overlapping, interlocking over-under pattern on a flat kiln shelf and tack fire them together. The resulting woven piece can then be slumped over a compatible form such as a sushi slumper.

What COE glass can I use with this mold set?
Any COE. Ceramic slumping molds are COE agnostic, so the same forms work with COE96, COE90, or other fusible glass. Match your firing schedule to the glass you are using.

How do I prep the molds before slumping?
Coat each bar form with a kiln shelf primer such as a boron nitride spray (for example ZYP) or a kiln wash such as Hotline Primo Primer, and let it dry completely before placing glass on the form.

Working Notes

These are guidelines, not guarantees. Every kiln fires a little differently, so test a small run first when the result matters and follow a slumping schedule suited to your glass and kiln.

• Prime the surface of each bar form with a boron nitride mold primer such as ZYP Boron Nitride Mold Primer, or a kiln wash, and let it dry completely before placing glass on the form so the glass does not stick.
• Place a pre-cut glass sheet or fused blank over each bar form and fire using a slumping schedule suited to your glass type and kiln.
• To build a woven composition, arrange the four slumped bar pieces in an interlocking over-under pattern and tack fire them together. The finished woven piece can then be slumped over a compatible form such as a sushi slumper.
• The mold set is COE agnostic. Adjust your firing schedule and anneal soak to match the COE glass you are using.
• Let the kiln cool fully before removing the slumped pieces. Re coat the molds with primer as needed between firings.
• The Slide Hi Temp brand separator is not recommended with these molds.
