Zodiacs Decals Sheet

This sheet carries the full set of twelve astrological signs printed in a warm gold metallic finish, with several signs repeated so you have spares of your favorites. Each symbol appears as a small pictorial illustration: the lion of Leo, the paired twins of Gemini, the scales of Libra, the centaur archer of Sagittarius, the crab of Cancer, the bull of Taurus, the paired fish of Pisces, the sea-goat of Capricorn, the scorpion of Scorpio, the water bearer of Aquarius, the ram of Aries, and the robed figure of Virgo. The designs are arranged in rows and rendered in a clean, classic outline style that reads clearly at small scale.

These are water-slide decals designed for firing onto pre-fired glass. Cut an individual sign from the sheet, soak it briefly in clean water until the image slides freely off its backing paper, then position it on your clean pre-fired glass and slide the backing away. Smooth from the center outward with a soft tool to work out any trapped water or air, then allow the decal to dry completely before placing it in the kiln. Because these decals bond to the glass surface rather than fusing as a compatible glass layer, they work with your fusible glass regardless of COE.

Which zodiac signs are included?
All twelve signs are represented: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Several signs are printed more than once across the sheet, so you have spares.

Will these decals work with my fusible glass?
Yes. These decals fire onto the surface of pre-fired glass rather than fusing as a structural glass layer, so COE compatibility is not a factor. Clean, fully pre-fired glass is the key requirement.

How do I apply a decal cleanly without lifting edges or bubbles?
Soak the cut decal in clean water for 30 to 60 seconds until it moves freely on its backing paper. Place it on the glass and slide the paper out from underneath while holding the image in position. Use a soft squeegee or clean fingertip to press firmly from the center outward, displacing water toward the edges. Let the piece sit until the decal is fully dry before loading the kiln. Any remaining moisture can cause lifting or cracking during firing.

Can I cut individual signs and store the rest for later?
Yes. Use small scissors or a craft knife to cut as close to the design as needed. Store the unused portion of the sheet flat in a cool, dry location away from direct light.

Working Notes

Apply decals only to clean, grease-free, pre-fired glass. Handle the glass with clean hands or cotton gloves to avoid leaving oils that interfere with adhesion. Allow the decal to dry completely before placing your piece in the kiln. Because these decals carry a gold metallic finish, fire them toward the lower end of the stated range to preserve the finish. Every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece before firing a completed work, and always anneal to match the thickness of your glass.

Suggested Firing Schedule (a starting point only, not a guarantee of results; every kiln fires differently, so test a small piece first and anneal for the thickness of your glass): Ventilate the kiln well up to 1000 degrees and fire slowly below 500 degrees. Ramp 50 degrees per hour to 185 degrees, hold 20 minutes. Ramp 150 degrees per hour to 300 degrees, hold 15 minutes. Ramp 250 degrees per hour to 500 degrees, hold 15 minutes. Ramp 600 degrees per hour to 1000 degrees, hold 10 minutes. Then ramp to a final 1240 to 1370 degrees, held about 10 minutes, staying toward the lower end to preserve the metallic finish. Anneal for the thickness of your glass.
