Oceanside Red Reactive Transparent (style 60-003-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible sheet glass, a reactive transparent that develops its red tone where it meets copper-bearing glass.
Appearance
In the photo this glass reads as a nearly colorless, faintly warm transparent sheet with a smooth double-rolled surface. Before firing it looks pale and clear rather than red, which is normal for a reactive transparent; the red comes forward during fusing where the glass contacts a reactive partner.
Working notes
As a double-rolled transparent it passes light like a cathedral glass and stays glossy through a full fuse.
Reactions
This is a reactive color developed to react against copper-bearing glass, typically producing a deep reddish tone where the two meet. Fusers use it deliberately for shading and accents. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for details.
Format and sizes
Sold as 3mm double-rolled sheet glass. Choose your size from the options on this page.
Fusing and compatibility
Fuses cleanly with any other 96 COE glass in the System 96 family. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee compatibility, so fire a small test tile first.
