The etched luminescent glass keeps a dense, line-forward field with little open ground, and the remaining coating throws a luminous rainbow shimmer across every channel.
That pearlescent rainbow shimmer shifts with the light, varying sheet to sheet, so each piece is unique, seen in ordinary light, not glow in the dark. On a Black base it reads bold and high-contrast; on a Clear base it stays translucent and passes light, suited to suncatchers and windows.

Firing Instructions & Helpful Tips: Luminescent Etched Glass
These are guidelines, not guarantees. Each kiln and each handmade sheet behaves a little differently, so test a small piece first when the result matters.
- Cut on the non-etched (back) side. To cut on the etched (front) side instead, pre-fire etched-side-down to about 1350°F first.
- Do not cap with clear.
- For the first fuse, fire etched-side-down on fiber paper. Fired face-up the luminescent coating can burn off.
- It can be re-fired etched-side-up at a lower temperature (under 1400°F; we don't exceed 1250°F).
