Oceanside Pewter Opalescent (style 2802-96) is System 96 tested-compatible 96 COE fusible frit, crushed opalescent glass in a soft pewter gray.
Appearance
A cool medium gray with a faint pearly sheen. The opal granules are opaque, reading as a neutral pewter that leans slightly blue-gray where light catches the broken faces.
Working notes
As an opal it reads as solid gray where it is laid down. Use it for neutral shading, grounding, and stone or metal effects on a base.
Reactions
This color is not on the System 96 reactive list, so it sits next to other colors without forming a reaction line. See the System 96 Reactive Color Chart for the colors that do react.
Using the frit
Sold in grades from fine to coarse. Sift or sprinkle it onto a base to build color and texture, or pack it into molds for casting; finer grades melt smoother, coarser grades hold more grain.
Fusing and compatibility
Fuses cleanly with the rest of the System 96 line. With glass from other makers, matching COE alone does not guarantee a fit, so fire a test tile first.
